Sudan

The country of Sudan has been fighting a civil war for over 20 years. The fighting has pitted the Arab influenced, Muslim North against the Black African, Animist/Christian South. Over 2 million people have been killed and over 4 million people have been driven from their homes. Since 1999 FRM has been training to serve as pastors to the Southern Army. These men are spiritual, not combat, soldiers who bring the Good News to men on the front lines.

LRA Attacks

LRA attacks on the villages are frequent. Recently, the
LRA have stepped up activity in the area surrounding our training compound. It wasn't long before the LRA actually attacked our village and killed several dear friends.
You can see the LRAs effects.

Chaplain Camel Corps

At the heart of the ministry is our chaplains of Southern Sudan. The ministry began through the needs of southeren Sudan and the need for training pastors and chaplains for the brutal world of Sudan. The chaplains of Far Reaching Ministries are currently deployed all over southern Sudan including the Nuba Mountains. The Camels Corps use camels to reach the most difficult to reach areas of Sudan including the Nuba Mountains. If you're ready to pack your bags and even ride a camel, Far Reaching Ministries has mission teams that assist in the proclaimation of the gospel as well as protection of others. Join us to help the helpless!

Life for Women?

Life for women in Sudan is full of challenges. Very few are educated, because according to their culture a woman's role is to produce children and care for the home only. It is common to find women who have only been to first or second grade and are therefore mostly illiterate.

Women are given the full responsibility of providing for the needs of the family. ALL the chores rest upon their shoulders, literally: carrying water, cultivating, finding food items, providing clothes, and paying school fees for the children. The men often do nothing but sit and watch. The culture also supports and encourages polygamy. Love is not a part of their family life and some women almost never see their husbands at home. See our Rabuna Fi website for more information on helping women in Africa with FRM.
